Sydney Liquidators With Straight Answers
There are two things most directors want answered in the first conversation:
- Am I trading while Insolvent?
- What happens if I don’t do something now?
As experienced Liquidators in Sydney, we’ll explain the commercial realities and the likely outcomes, so you have all the facts you need to make a serious decision. And because we’re right-sized (big enough for complex appointments, small enough to stay personal) you won’t feel like your matter disappears into a call centre.
Types of Liquidation We Handle
The right process depends on why your business is closing, how urgent the pressure is, and whether your company is solvent.
Creditors Voluntary Liquidation (CVL) — CVL is the most common outcome when a business can’t pay its debts. Directors choose this when it’s safer to stop trading and deal with creditors formally.
Court Liquidation — If a creditor has filed, or is about to file, Winding-Up proceedings, you may be facing Court Liquidation. Time is usually tight and advice needs to be immediate.
Members Voluntary Liquidation (MVL) — Not every Liquidation is a crisis. A MVL suits solvent companies closing for commercial reasons.
Simplified Liquidation — For eligible small companies, this may reduce cost and administration. We’ll quickly confirm if it applies.
What it's Like Working with HM Advisory
For many directors, Liquidation is years of effort coming to a hard stop. We don’t ignore that, but we also don’t get stuck in it. Our job is to help you move from panic to a plan.
That means:
- Giving you a clear view of director duties and risks
- Moving quickly when creditors, banks, or the ATO are escalating
- Being honest about what’s salvageable (and what isn’t)

FAQs
How do I know if Liquidation is the right step?
If you can’t pay debts on time or creditor pressure is escalating, it’s time for advice. We encourage people in this position to act early enough to preserve options.
Can Liquidation be avoided?
Sometimes, yes. Depending on the business, there may be Restructuring or Administration pathways that keep the doors open. We assess that first, but only if there’s a realistic route back to profitability.
What’s the difference between CVL and Court Liquidation?
A CVL is director-initiated and typically gives you more control over timing and communication. Court Liquidation in Sydney usually follows creditor legal action and can move fast, so immediate advice matters.
I’ve received a creditor demand. What should I do?
Take it seriously and get advice quickly. Deadlines can be short, and the wrong move (or no move) can narrow your options.
