Richard Rohrt

Richard Rohrt CPA CAANZ


Richard is a Chartered Accountant (“CA”) and also a member of CPA Australia (“CPA”) with over 20 years insolvency experience with major accounting firms specialising in insolvency and reconstruction. His insolvency experience covers a wide range of industries including building and construction, hospitality, clothing, telecommunications, manufacturing, transport and general retail.

He has over 25 years management experience in the hospitality industry as well as general retail, and his practical experience provides an essential element when dealing with all family businesses.

Richard is a registered liquidator and regularly accepts appointments from the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Federal Court of Australia. Richard is also a member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (“ARITA”).

Richard was appointed Liquidator of the former National Builders Group Pty Ltd, one of Victoria’s pre-eminent home builders. Following a series of complex realisations of assets, the Liquidator is preparing to declare a second interim dividend to creditors.

Richard was appointed Voluntary Administrator and subsequently Liquidator to two large international hotels in Tasmania, effectively managing and trading on the two hotels for 10 months whilst successfully negotiating a sale of the businesses to the Best Western group of hotels.

Richard was appointed Receiver to a publicly listed company to resolve a dispute between the appointed liquidator and a conglomerate of secured creditors. Richard ensured that substantial funds were returned to the secured creditors.

Stephen Dixon

Stephen Dixon


Stephen specialises in corporate insolvency and personal insolvency. Stephen has over 10 years’ formal insolvency experience including: official liquidations; creditors’ voluntary liquidations; receiverships and agents for the mortgagee in possession; voluntary administrations; problem loan management; investigative accountant’s reports; pre-lending reviews; due diligence reports; turnaround and workout management; and bankruptcy and Part X arrangements.

  • Victoria Titans Pty Ltd: Voluntary Administration, then Deed of Company Arrangement. The company’s previous trading activity was in the sporting and recreational activities industry as it was a National Basketball League Club. The role included seeking a new owner, maintaining relationships with sponsors, liaison with the National Basketball League and importantly, endeavour to maintain the team list during the process.
  • Bizwear Pty Ltd: Administration of high-profile corporate clothing importer and wholesaler. The process included dealing with overseas manufacturers, reviewing and determining numerous Retention of Title claims. Further, the process incorporated significant investigations as the company had a material misstatement in its audited financial accounts.
Leigh Dudman

Registered Liquidator

Leigh is a Registered Liquidator with over 30 years experience in corporate insolvency. He brings to Hamilton Murphy a wealth of experience and knowledge of insolvency matters and provides staff with insight and input into the carriage and management of their files. Leigh also provides management advice to senior members of the firm.

During his long career in insolvency, Leigh has taken numerous appointments to a range of businesses – from a small family business to complex multi-level corporations. Notably, Leigh was involved in the operation and sale of Bamix Australia and played a significant role in the trade-on operations of two major international hotels in Tasmania. Leigh is also a joint liquidator of a major residential builder that has a number of complex legal issues and actions.

Having been an investigator with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) for close to 10 years, Leigh has an insight into the requirements, responsibilities and obligations of directors and the legal issues that affect directors in an insolvency situation.

Leigh is a member of CPA Australia, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants.

Andrew Mattinson

Andrew Mattinson CPA

Registered Liquidator

Andrew is a Registered Liquidator with extensive experience in business turnaround and recovery. He provides clients with tailored advice drawing on his previous careers in the financial and not-for-profit sectors. This combination makes Andrew a valuable and key member of our team. In addition to formal insolvency work such as liquidations and administrations, Andrew’s service offering extends to assisting companies with due diligence, strategic & operational planning, cash flow management, risk management and the tax effective winding up of solvent entities.

Andrew holds a Degree in Economics & Finance, Master of Accounting, is a CPA member and has completed the insolvency specific higher education course provided by Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association.

He is passionate about the local community, having been on the Board and acted as Treasurer of Volunteering Victoria, has performed roles such as volunteering at Epworth Emergency, Sunday Coordinator of Auskick, Treasurer of the local kindergarten, Duty Coordinator at Caulfield Little Athletics and Football Coach.

Emma Grant

Emma Grant

Senior Manager

Emma is a Senior Manager within the Personal Insolvency Team here at Hamilton Murphy Advisory. Emma has knowledge of both Australian and UK insolvency law and has been involved in contentious and non-contentious insolvency appointments.

Emma has over 8+ years’ experience at forensically analysing an insolvent parties’ affairs, and has significant experience in fraud investigations. Emma has worked on a number of assignments which include asset tracing on complex personal insolvency matters utilising the powers under the Bankruptcy Act.

Emma has successfully initiated claims against connected and unconnected parties to recover monies in respect of antecedent transactions on behalf of creditors. Emma advises individuals on all aspects of personal insolvency including Bankruptcy, Personal Insolvency Agreements (Part X) and informal arrangements.

Bilal Haider

Bilal Haider ASA


Bilal is a Manager within the corporate insolvency team with almost 10 years’ experience in manufacturing, retail, property development, construction and transport. Bilal’s key area of interest and expertise is voluntary administrations and deed of company arrangements to find a tailored solution for clients and achieve the best outcome for the company and its creditors.

Bilal also has extensive experience in pre-insolvency advice, financial modelling, critical financial statements analysis and investigative accountants reports.

Bilal is passionate about community sports and is a playing member and volunteer at the Edinburgh Cricket Club, North Fitzroy.

Bilal Haider

Xavier is a Manager within the corporate insolvency team and has over 8 years insolvency experience. He completed a Bachelor of Accounting and Commercial Law at Deakin University and is a professional member of CPA Australia Ltd and the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association.

Xavier has gained extensive experience across various industries having been involved in managing Voluntary Administrations, Deeds of Company Arrangements and Liquidations nationally. He is continually developing his professional knowledge and network by closely monitoring developments affecting the corporate insolvency market within Australia.

Michael Shabani

Upon completion of his tertiary studies in Accounting, Michael commenced his career in corporate insolvency in 2008 and has refined his knowledge and experience in the industry over a period of 7 years.

Michael joined the team at Hamilton Murphy in July 2013 and has been exposed to various corporate assignments over a variety of industries and administration platforms. His experience in insolvency has cultivated a special interest and aptitude for conducting forensic investigations for the purpose of pursuing recovery actions, identifying potential corporate breaches and maximising asset realisations.

Michael is presently completing his CPA program and has aspirations of attaining his license to become a registered liquidator.

Caitlin Rohrt

Caitlin Rohrt

Caitlin has 4 years insolvency experience with carriage of smaller files, and assisting senior managers and partners with more complex matters and appointments.

Caitlin has experience in a range of industries including manufacturing, hospitality and retail, information technology and health care. During her time with Hamilton Murphy, Caitlin has assisted with the trade-on and sale of two international hotels in Tasmania, the trade-on and sale of a country Victorian hotel, and a large cereal and biscuit manufacturer in New South Wales.

As a Law/Arts student, Caitlin has undertaken an internship with a boutique law firm specialising in commercial litigation and insolvency matters. Having completed her studies recently, Caitlin is committed to further study in the field of corporate insolvency.

Caitlin is a student member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA).
